Everything
started in 1962, still in my mother's womb, I must have been receiving
the signals of distant radio stations like Radio Caposdistria, Deutschlandfunk,
Radio RAI Roma, ORTF or perhaps Radio Monte Ceneri...
A
pretty loud child, my mom experimented on me with her music-based anti-stress
theories: each time I cried she'd put me in front of a big old radio.
That lacquered wood box with the lit-up screen, the names of the radio
stations and the little green light indicating good reception was my
very first fascination. The warm AM sounds and the sweet melodies of
mambo, bossa nova and cha-cha-cha were my pacifiers.
Totally absaorbed in a fantastic world of music and radio. Moreover,
since the age of 3 I would play my 2 sisters' favorite 45's.
They were more than happy to have a (beginner) DJ spare them the chores
of changing records every 3 minutes as well as clean and rearrange them.
